stations of the cross - LENT 2012

Exhibition review: 'BEHOLD THE MAN OF SORROWS' BY LAURA GASCOIGNE - THE TABLET

"In original exhibition during Lent in a Welsh country church of the 14 Stations of the Cross each created by a different artist is drawing visitors from far and wide to the highly individual perspective of the story of the Crucifixion that they portray."

In 2012, our first Lent exhibition took place with each artist producing an interpretation of one of the 14 scriptural Stations of the Cross, each of which is based on a Biblical text describing Jesus going through the torture that led to his death. They were arranged around the walls of the church in chronological order.

The Rector, Stephen Hollinghurst, commented, "I'm used to Discoed staging very high quality arts events, but this is the first time we've overtly made the connection between the Visual Arts and the Gospel and it's very exciting to see the way the village church, the community, the artists and musicians have all caught the vision for what will, I know, be a challenging and moving series of events."
